Catalunya Ràdio: Berta Adell talks about Usher syndrome on El matí

On 20 October 2026, Berta Adell, co-founder and president of Save Sight Now Europe, spoke on El matí de Catalunya Ràdio about Usher syndrome type 1B and about Bruna.

In the interview (in Catalan), Berta explains what Usher syndrome type 1B is: profound deafness from birth, no sense of balance and retinitis pigmentosa, which causes sight loss during childhood. She also talks about daily life for Bruna, who has just turned six, and what it is like to grow up with Usher.

She explains why she and Arnau founded Save Sight Now Europe: to support research teams with funding and with knowledge, and to gain time. And she points out that what we learn from Usher 1B can help many other people with retinitis pigmentosa.

Many thanks to Catalunya Ràdio for the airtime and for helping to raise awareness of Usher syndrome.

The interview starts at 12:55 in the recording.
