THE CAUSE

USHER SYNDOME TYPE 1B. WE CAN STILL ACT IN TIME.

USHER SYNDOME TYPE 1B. WE CAN STILL ACT IN TIME.

Usher syndrome type 1B is an ultra-rare disease that causes profound deafness and balance disorders from birth, followed by progressive vision loss from childhood.

Affected children can still see when they are young. The window for intervention is now — before the retina deteriorates completely.

Save Sight Now Europe was born from the determination of a family from La Vall de Santa Creu. Faced with their daughter’s diagnosis, they decided to push science forward. Today, that impulse has grown into research support across six leading laboratories in Europe and North America.
