The Canary Islands sports outlet 8sports was one of the first to announce the I Torneo de Pádel por el Usher, the solidarity padel tournament at DRAGO Padel Center in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
In his article of 2 September 2026, Rafa León explained that Save Sight Now Europe – Fundación Síndrome de Usher was organising a big solidarity weekend on 25 and 26 September, with more than 160 players expected across several categories and more than €3,000 in prizes.
He also described the activities open to everyone – a solidarity breakfast, raffles, a darts tournament and live music – and explained what Usher syndrome is: a rare genetic disease that causes hearing loss and progressive loss of vision.
