A RARE DISEASE

A night to accelerate its cure.

Save Sight Now Europe is the only organisation in Europe dedicated exclusively to Usher syndrome type 1B: a rare disease that takes away a child’s hearing, balance and sight from birth. Every November, La Nit de la Visió brings together families, scientists, friends, donors and sponsors to make possible the research we carry out with research teams from around the world to cure blindness in Usher 1B.

4th edition

A movement that grows every year.

Watch how La Nit de la Visió 2025 went

€2.7 million

invested to date in Usher 1B research, through events, awards and funding calls SSNEU applies to every year.

La Nit de la Visió is a key part of this: in three editions it has raised €108,000, all of it going to programmes such as reConnect, the collaboration with the Institut Pasteur, and the five-year study with RetinAI (EssilorLuxottica) and the Institut de la Vision, which this year is expanding its patient cohort and the volume of data collected.

SPECIAL GUEST

The documentary Per la Bruna

Tonight, we’ll screen live the sizzle reel of Per la Bruna, the documentary directed by Carla Roda that explains Usher syndrome type 1B, the work of Save Sight Now Europe | Usher syndrome foundation, and the story of the family who founded the organisation following their personal diagnosis. A story with a name and a face that represents every girl and boy, and every family, living the same reality today. A chance for those who haven’t seen it yet. Because after the darkness, there is light.

A night to celebrate the year everything starts to blossom

2025 was the year of the first human clinical trial for Usher syndrome type 1B, run by AAVantgarde Bio. A year of new research agreements with the Institut reConnect (Institut Pasteur) and the first results of the programme with RetinAI (EssilorLuxottica) and the Institut de la Vision. We have also started a programme for a possible ASO therapy with Hospital del Mar and Dr. Pablo Villoslada, and we’re working on two complementary programmes with Catalan companies we can’t reveal yet. We celebrate it as always: with music, a good dinner and the community that makes it possible. The detailed programme for the evening will be revealed very soon. Save the date, La Nit 2026
