Charity Run – CO Sarine Ouest (Fribourg, Switzerland)
On Friday, June 13th, the 589 students of the Cycle d’Orientation de Sarine Ouest will lace up their running shoes in support of Save Sight Now Europe.
This initiative is driven by solidarity: the school reached out to a local family whose eldest son, Félix, nearly 6 years old, lives with Usher Syndrome Type 1B — a rare genetic condition causing congenital deafness, balance disorders, and progressive childhood blindness.
In April, Félix’s mother, Elise Meyer, visited the school to present the work of Save Sight Now Europe, an organization led by families affected by the syndrome. Thanks to their relentless efforts, hope is growing for treatments that could stop the progression of blindness. Among the research projects supported is a promising program led by Prof. Elvir Becirovic at the University of Zurich.
🧡 Because no child should grow up in silence and darkness.
🤝 Each student has been encouraged to find sponsors for their run.
💝 At the end of the event, the school will present a donation to the Meyer family on behalf of Save Sight Now Europe — a gesture of hope, unity, and commitment to accelerating the path toward a cure.
